Welcome to Cherry Clough Farmhouse Accommodation
Cherry Clough Farm is situated in Denshaw, one of the Saddleworth Villages on the South Pennine Moors. The Hall family are the third generation to farm the 280 acres of land. We have 400 ewes which lamb in March/April each year.
A proportion of the land is engaged with the Countryside Stewardship Scheme which includes the re-wetting of land helping to provide additional habitats for wading birds. The Twite which nationally is quite rare can regularly be seen around the farm with Lapwings, Curlew and other species. In addition the regeneration of the heather moor is providing a natural habitat for insects, mammals and birds. There is an area of woodland consisting primarily of ash, beech and sycamore just south of the farmhouse and a number of ponds providing habitat for a variety of wildlife.
The area is well served with footpaths and bridleways and the Oldham Way, the Pennine Way and the Pennine Bridleway are all in close proximity. Saddleworth is famous for being home the largest “Brass Band Concert” in the world, held each year on Whit Friday. Other events include the annual “Beer Walk Festival,” the “Rushbearing Festival” and the “Yanks Weekend.” All these events attract thousands of tourists to the area each year.
The farm is within 20 minutes drive of Rochdale, Oldham, Huddersfield and Halifax town centres. The cities of Manchester and Leeds are within 15 and 30 miles respectively.
